Google has announced an exciting opportunity for aspiring Product Data Scientists with its 2024 Off Campus Recruitment Drive. This drive is aimed at filling positions in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, two of India’s most prominent tech hubs. ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Product Data Scientist at Google, you will work closely with engineering teams to solve complex problems related to the quality of Google’s Maps data products, including Maps, Earth, and Local Search. You will also be involved in understanding the connection between users and data quality, growing ecosystems based on geospatial data, and scaling state-of-the-art ML/AI efforts. Additionally, you will assess the impact of new GenAI features on Maps users and contributors.

JOB LOCATION

Candidates selected for this role will have the option to work from either Hyderabad, Telangana, or Bengaluru, Karnataka. Both cities are known for their vibrant tech ecosystems and are home to many of the world’s leading tech companies.

QUALIFICATION

To apply for the Product Data Scientist role, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).

 

Preferred Qualifications

While the minimum qualifications are essential, Google prefers candidates who also have:

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience working with statistical packages such as Python, R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.
  • Collaborative Skills: Experience collaborating with multiple teams to bridge qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Analytical Mindset: A deep interest in data, metrics, and trends, with applied knowledge of measurement, statistics, and program evaluation.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to translate complex analyses into data-driven narratives and present them effectively across various media.
  • Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating analysis results into business recommendations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Product Data Scientist at Google, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Data Quality Initiatives: Work with the Geo Developer, Consumer, and Sustainability ecosystems to support foundational data and quality initiatives.
  • Developing Metrics and Strategies: Create new metrics and measurement techniques to drive headroom analysis, goal setting, and data-driven strategies.
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Apply advanced techniques like embeddings and novel experiments to create profiles, analyze correlations, and assess the connection between data quality and user behavior.
  • Executive-Level Reporting: Generate analysis for Vice President-level reviews and provide in-depth search insights.
  • Prioritizing User Needs: Identify and prioritize user needs, make product or process recommendations, and generate implementations for changes.
